Swatch: KIKO No. 297

(above indoor light - below natural light)

This is probably the color I was most disappointed with.
It was cute in the bottle but on the nails was kind of boring. Also it was a little sheer and after two coats there was still VNL, usually KIKO polish are two coaters.
I will try it with some glitter over it.

Swatch: KIKO No. 295

(above indoor light - below natural light)

First thing I would like to say that for these swatch I changed the lighting for my indoor pictures, but they came out pretty dark so I think I will go back to the previous lighting.
In fact the first picture is absolutely not color accurate, the color came out too dark, almost royal blue. The second picture is more accurate.
Now to the polish.
This color is my favorite from the last KIKO haul. It's not a surprise to me since I know I love blue, wheter it's polish, clothes or anything else.
This is a nice add to my blue polishes. I really love it and I already wear it for about three days without getting tired of it, strange thing for me since I like to change my polish more often if I have the time.

Swatch: KIKO No. 290

(above indoor light - below natural light)

I had this color and a lighter version of it in my hands and I really didn't know which one buy so I let my sister choose. And her choise was right because I'm totally in love with this color.
This color is called "Dark Magenta" but for me is too on the pink side to be a magenta, it's more berry to me.

Swatch: KIKO No. 279

(above indoor light - below natural light)

When I saw this color I wanted it even if I'm not a yellow lover.
It's a really pretty yellow creme that scream "SUMMER HAS COME!!".
The first coat was really stricky, the second was better but probably three coats would have been perfect.
Unfortunately I don't like this color on me, but I layered over some yellow glitter (KIKO 269) and it was better, probably one of my future pedi.

Swatch: KIKO No. 296

(above camera flash - below natural light)

I really like this polish, mostly because I don't own a lot of green polish and this is definitely I beautiful green. I was really into green polish in these days so this was the first one that I wore.
The whole week has been very rainy so I didn't had the chance to swatch more polishes, I was lucky that a ray of sun come out and I could take this pictures.
I have a lot of polishes that are waiting to be swatched so let's hope the upcoming week is very sunny!

RUFFIAN Nails

Like everyone else I was curious to try the new CND creation... Ruffian Nails.
My result is different from the original but I still like it.

For the gold part I used MAYBELLINE FOREVER STRONG No.810 Chic Gold and for the black I used Deborah Shine Tech No.30.

Then using essie Matte About You Top Coat I mattified the black part only.

I also added some gold flat glitter on my ring finger but I didn't like the result.

Some old NotD

Shower Together is one of my favourite polish. I would never tell by looking at the bottle but on my nails is just amazing and with a bit of silver sparkle it quickly became one of my favourite NOTD!

♥♥♥♥♥
I don't love pinks but this one is really pretty and it looks good on me!

Scans | Nail Venus Spring 2010

This are some of my favourites from Nail Venus Spring 2010.
For the whole issue go to this community.

Swatch: MAYBELLINE FOREVER STRONG No. 810 "Chic Gold"

(above camera flash - below natural light)

I'm not a big fan of gold in jewelry or polish, I like silver better.
That said I absolutely love this polish. In fact it's not a very yellow gold it's more "silverish".
It has a foil finish that make it gorgeous. When I wore I stared at my nails the whole day!
One of my favourites!

Swatch: MAYBELLINE Colorama No. 54 "Cherry Sweet"

(above camera flash - below natural light)

Cherry Sweet is a really pretty color. The base is magenta but it's pretty sheer so at least three coats are needed. The glitter is magenta with a little bit of blue, very subtle blue.

Welcome to Japanese nails!

If you read the "About Me" page you know how much I love Asia and especially Japan.
My passion for nails come from tons of Japanese music videos and magazines with gorgeous nails!
So I thought why not share this amazing nails with all the other nails lovers, maybe they can find something that they like and take ispiration from them. I often take ispiration for my nail art tutorials from these magazines.

The most famous and popular Japanese nails mags are Nail Max, Nail Up!, Nail Venus but there are a lot of others.
If you are interested in the whole issue of these mags or other Japanese magazines you can find them in this community.

Glamorous is a fashion magazine that I really like. In the March issue at the end there was a special Risa Nail Book (Risa is one of the models of Glamorous). This are a few pages that I liked. Maybe you will see some of these on my nails in the future!

Starting spring in the right way...

What's better than starting sping with pastel polish?
NOTHING so...
here are my five brand new polish from KIKO.

(297 yellow, 297 light green, 296 dark green, 295 blue, 290 pink)

Like I posted before KIKO is launching 29 new color for a total of 105 shades available.
With this much color to choose it was really difficult to choose just five of them but today my budget was limited. I think I will soon go back because there are two colors that are on my mind and I would really like to have!

I still haven't tried them because I still have my little apples on my nails and I want to keep them a little longer but as soon as I swatched them I will post them!!

APPLE IS A

A new tutorial!! It's a very "spring-ish" tutorial and since tomorrow it's the first day of spring it's very appropriate!!
I like it very very much and I think it's my best tutorial so far!!

What you need: a dotting tool, a thin brush.

Colors:

  • Base Coat: KIKO White strong&shiny No.05
  • Light Green: KIKO No.268
  • Red: MAYBELLINE FOREVER STRONG No.535 RUNWAY RED
  • Dark Green: DEBORAH 7 Days Long No.793
  • Dark Red: KIKO No.116
  • White: KIKO No.203
  • Top Coat: KIKO No.03
How to:
  1. Apply your base coat.
  2. Apply a light green polish. Any light green will do, just don't choose a too bright/bold color or else the apples will not stand out!
  3. With a dotting tool and some red polish draw the apple. Star with two bigger dots for the upper part and two small ones for the lower part and then blend them together with very small movements. It's not as hard as it sounds!
  4. For a more realistic result add a leaf with the help of the brush. Add also a shadow on a side of the apple with a dark red polish and a white dot for the reflex. Since there are a lot of layers and polish wait a few minutes (10/15 min) before apply your top coat or it will smudge.
