WATERCOLORS

This tutorial will show you how achieve a "watercolor effect" on your nails. I used the primary colors but you can choose any color you like just be sure it's water based.

Step 1: apply your base coat and a white polish. It doesn't have to be perfect because we will cover it eventually.

-Base Coat: KIKO White strong&shiny 05-

-White: basic 35-

Step 2: apply some yellow paint on your nails. Always start with your lightest color. You can cover the whole nail or just a part of it.

Step 3: apply red paint and mix it lightly with the yellow one. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Step 4: add the blue paint too and mix it again.

Step 5: dip all of your nails in water for a couple of seconds. This will make the colors blend. Use a tissue to remove the excess of water from your nails.

This step can be tricky because it's easy to remove too much paint. The easiest way to do it for me is to put just the very tip of your nail in contact with the tissue, this way the water will be absorbed but the paint will stay on your nails.

If you make some mistakes and remove the paint don't worry, you can always re-apply the paint and dip your fingers again!

Step 6: let the paint dry PERFECTLY. This will take a while. It took me 5 to 15 minutes to dry perfectly based on how much paint there was on my nails. When the paint is dry it will become opaque so it's easy to realize.

Step 7: apply your top coat. This step will make your nails look all shiny but, more importantly, will prevent the paint from fading if it cames in contact with water. Be sure to apply your top coat to the whole nail, corners and edges included.

On my left hand I applied less paint and let the white show up more. I like this result better.

I think it's the first time I like my left hand result better than the right one.
